Alexis Martin is a French-American pianist and composer from Paris. He started playing the piano when he was five and writing his own compositions when he was ten. 

He then began writing for chamber music and orchestra before venturing in more modern styles of music such as rock, hip-hop and electronic music. 

 

At age 18 Alexis moved to the UK for 3 years where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Music studying Film Music, Composition, Analog and Digital Recording and performed a 20-minute piano recital with Viola and Clarinet.  After writing a piece for a 30-piece orchestra for his final thesis Alexis realised he wanted to become a film composer.

 

He then returned to Paris for a sabbatical year where he studied further composition classes at Erik Satie’s Schola Cantorum under french composer Michel Merlet before going to Chicago where he obtained a Masters in Film Scoring at Columbia College Chicago.

 

Alexis then moved to Los Angeles to work with Icelandic composer Atli Örvarsson at Hans Zimmer’s Remote Control Productions studio in Santa Monica, working on numerous projects such as The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, Apple-TV Limited Series Defending Jacob, Netflix’s film How It Ends and Dick Wolf’s Chicago and FBI TV franchise.

 

in 2016 Alexis’ score for the independent short film Awful Pretty won best score at the Hollywood Boulevard Film Festival.

 

After working 8 years in Los Angeles Alexis decided to move back to his hometown of Paris where he now works as an independent composer. He continues to score projects both in France and the US and since then has written music for the new Canal+ animated series RUNES a series created by Les Armateurs (Kirikou et La Sorcière, Les Triplettes de Belleville)

 

Amongst other things Alexis is currently working on his debut solo-album which will be a more personal project blending solo piano and electronic music.
